Kristin Olsen Picks Up Pac-10 Honors
Sept. 22, 2009
With two more winning shutouts in-hand, USC senior goalkeeper Kristin Olsen has also grabbed her third career honor as Pac-10 Player of the Week. Already holding the most wins of any USC goalkeeper in history, Olsen helped secure USC's two shutout wins on the road last weekend as the Trojans recorded their first win over a ranked team this season and then won their fourth straight game on a trip to Oklahoma.
Olsen made a pair of saves against No. 21 Oklahoma State to help anchor USC's 1-0 win over the Cowgirls, handing OSU its first nonconference loss at home in nine years. Two days later, Olsen had six saves at Oklahoma to preserve another 1-0 win. A red card in the 35th minute left the Trojans playing a man down for the remainder of the game, as Olsen faced 14 shots in the second half. With her first two solo shutouts of the year, Olsen's career shutout total climbs to 22. USC improved to 5-3-0 with this weekend's road wins.
Olsen and the Women of Troy get back on the road this weekend with trips to Pacific and Santa Clara. USC visits the Tigers in a 7 p.m. game on Friday (Sept. 25) and then goes to face No. 9 Santa Clara at 1 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 27).
