USC'S Olsen Named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Commissioner Larry Scott announced today that USC’s senior goalkeeper Kristin Olsen has been named Pac-10 Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for Sept. 15-21.
Olsen, who hails from Orange, Calif., secured two shutout wins on the road for the Trojans over the weekend. USC’s winningest goalkeeper, Olsen brought her career total to 39 wins with shutout victories over No. 21 Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.
In the match against the Cowgirls, Olsen made two saves to help lead the Trojans to the 1-0 victory. The win for the Trojans marked the first home loss Oklahoma State has suffered in nine years.
Olsen followed with an even better performance at Oklahoma.She made six saves and anchored the team when a red card was given in the 35th minute and the Trojans were forced to play with a man down for the remainder of the match. Olsen faced 14 shots in the second half alone and made six stops down the stretch to clinch the Trojans’ second 1-0 win over the weekend.
With her first two solo shutouts of the year, Olsen’s career shutout total increases to 22, climbing to second on the USC career list, just three shutouts away from tying the leader.
This is the third weekly honor for Olsen and USC’s 20th Pac-10 Player of the Week All-time.
