Trojans Tied For 3rd Heading Into Ping/Golfweek Final Round

Junior Matt Giles and freshman Martin Trainer were tied for seventh after two rounds of the PING/Golfweek Invitational on Sunday, helping the Trojans to a tie for third overall at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.

USC finished at 16-over 592 (305-287), its second round tied for lowest of the day. The Trojans are 15 back of first-place Oklahoma State (577) and three behind second-place Washington (589).

After an opening round 77 Giles rebounded with a 69 while Trainer went 74 and 72 as the pair finished at 2-over 146.

Freshmen T.J. Vogel (77-74) and Sam Smith (79-72) and sophomore Steve Lim (77-74) are all tied for 29th at 7-over 151.

Action concludes Monday. USC tees off with Washington and Oklahoma State beginning at 9:40 a.m.
