Gymnastics Announces 2010 Schedule

CORVALLIS - Coming off its fourth consecutive NCAA Championship appearance, and celebrating the 60th year of legendary Gill Coliseum, the Oregon State gymnastics team will host five home meets to highlight the 2010 schedule released by head coach Tanya Chaplin on Tuesday.
'We are excited about this season's schedule,' Chaplin said. 'The competition we'll face and the road trips we'll make will really help to prepare this team for the postseason.'
The 2010 season opens at home, Jan. 8, with a quadrangular meet against Big Ten Conference member Illinois, which reached the NCAA Championships for the first time in 2009, Air Force and Alaska.
The home slate also includes Pacific Northwest rival Washington (Jan. 22), a triangular meet against perennial power Stanford and Seattle Pacific (Jan. 29), and Arizona (Feb. 12). The home schedule concludes Mar. 19 when the Beavers host the SEC's Kentucky.
The Beavers will be tested on the road in 2010 with six regular season road trips scheduled, including four straight trips late in the season. OSU will cross the country twice going to Big Ten country to face Ohio State in Columbus (Jan. 16) and then late in the season travel to Baton Rouge, La. to compete against LSU of the SEC, Mar. 3. In addition, Oregon State will go on the road to UCLA (Feb. 21) and Utah (Mar. 12) to compete against two of the nation's best. Other Pac-10 trips are to the Bay Area to take on California (Feb. 7) and to Arizona State (Feb. 26).
The regular season concludes with the Pac-10 Championships, which will be hosted by Arizona, Mar. 27.
Oregon State returns two All-Americans - Mandi Rodriguez (vault '07 & `09, all-around '09, floor '09) and Jen Kesler (bars '08 & '09) - and two additional All-Pac-10 team members - Laura-Ann Chong (beam) and Leslie Mak (bars).
