Olsen Named Player of the Week


ARIZONA (3-6-1)
The Wildcats took to the road this weekend, splitting their matches at UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly..SO MF Jessica Culver scored the first goal of the match, which was also her first goal of the season...SO F Renae Cuellar added her team-leading sixth goal of the season to give UofA the 2-1 win...RS SR GK Devon Wharf took care of things in goal, making two saves to bring her season total up to 27 saves. 

JR F Karin Volpe had her fourth career two-goal game in the Sun Devil's 4-0 win over Northern Arizona...Volpe also added two assists in the match, one to FR F Courtney Tinnin for her first collegiate goal and the second to FR D/F Amy Dougher for what was also her first-collegiate goal...The two goals and two assists gave Volpe six points in the match, which represents the second-highest single-game point total in program history...She is  also currently leading ASU on the season in goals (4), game-winning goals (2) and points (11).


The Golden Bears dropped a close 1-0 decision in overtime at home against Cal Poly on Friday...JR F Alex Morgan led the Bears with four shots on goal and had some close ones just miss the back of the net...Morgan leads the squad with seven goals...SR GK Rosie Aguliera made two saves in the match.


OREGON (7-1-1)
SR D Danielle Sweeney scored the game- winning goal and her second of the season in the 38th minute of the match against Portland State...Sweeney also assisted on the second goal of the game by RS JR F Rianna Mansfield, her first goal of the season...The Ducks have entered the national rankings over the past two weeks and are ranked their highest to date this week at No. 14 in Soccer America's poll.

Oregon State had its seven-game winning streak, the second-longest in school history, snapped on Friday on the road against No. 4 Portland, 1-0...The Beavers held the Pilots scoreless in the match until the 55th minute when a goal slipped by OSU...The Beavers held the Pilots to their lowest goal total of the season...SO GK Colleen Boyd made six stops in goal for the Beavers.


STANFORD (10-0-0)
Ranked No.1 in Soccer America and Soccer Times' polls for the second-straight week this season...The Cardinal continued their unbeaten season with a 1-0 win on the road against Saint Mary's...SR F Christen Press scored in the 59th minute to give the Cardinal the win...Press also leads the nation with 0.90 assists per game...JR GK Kira Maker faced nine shots from Gales in the match, the most she has seen all season in a match...She made three saves to help preserve the win...Head Coach Paul Ratcliffe earned his 150th collegaite career victory with the win.


UCLA (8-1-1)
RS SR F Kara Lang, who has three goals on the year, suffered a career-ending knee injury in the

Bruins 2-0 road win over CSU Northridge on Friday...The Bruins pulled out their second win of the weekend with a 3-1 victory over UC Santa Barbara on the road...SO F Sydney Leroux scored two goals to bring her team-leading goal total to 10 so far on the season...Leroux is tied for fourth in the nation in the goals per game category with 1.10...RS JR D Jenna Belcher scored her first goal on the season in the win over the Gauchos.


USC (7-3-0)
The Trojans continued their six game winning streak with two more road wins over the weekend...USC beat Pacific 3-2, with the game-winning goal coming from FR MF Courtney Garcia, putting her at three goals on the season, all of which were game-winners...The Trojans then pulled out a huge road win at No. 9 Santa Clara...USC got out to a 1-0 lead with SO MF Chelsea Buehning's first career goal, and survived an onslaught of offensive pressure from the Broncos, including twenty shots, with SR GK Kristin Olsen having to make eight saves...For her efforts in goal, Olsen was named Pac-10 Player of the Week for the second-straight week.

The Huskies earned two strong road decisions over the weekend, beginning with a 3-2 overtime win over UC Irvine...SR F Veronica Perez, who leads the team with four goals, scored the game-tying goal to send the match into overtime... SR MF Nikki Murray scored the golden goal in the 92nd minute to give the Huskies the win...In the 1-1 tie with CSU Fullerton on Saturday, Murray added a goal in the 89th minute, giving Washington the lead before the Titans were able to come up with a goal in the final seconds of the match for the tie...Murray is second on the squad with three goals.


The Cougars finished off Weber State, 4-0, getting two goals from SR MF Carly Dobratz...Dobratz racked up four points in the match, moving her up the list to sixth place all-time in points at Washington State, collecting 46 so far in her career...Washington State's potent offense has already scored 27 goals this season, two more than it scored in all of 2008...The Cougars are 11-0-2 in their last 13 matches at home against non-conference opponents.
