UA Soccer to close out non-conference schedule

Arizona soccer will host Loyola Marymount University this Friday at 7 pm at Murphy Field at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium.
The Wildcats, now 3-6-1, are back in Tucson after splitting the weekend in central California. Last Friday, sophomores Jessica Culver and Renae Cuellar led the Wildcats to a 2-1 win over UC Santa Barbara. Sunday afternoon, the Wildcats lost 3-0 to Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. Against UCSB, Cuellar notched her sixth goal of the season Culver hit her first.
About the Lions: LMU is currently 7-3-1, and are coming off a pair of shut-out wins that upped their home win streak to six games. The Lions took down Long Beach State 1-0 on Friday before shutting out Cal State Bakersfield 3-0 Sunday. This will be Arizona's fifth all-time meeting with the Lions, and both teams have won twice.
All about the freshmen and sophomores: The Wildcat freshman and sophomores outnumber the juniors and seniors 12-8, with Alex Smith, Brittany Berger, Amy Steiner, Kristin Strother, Renae Cuellar, Karli Hedlund, Itzel Rodriguez, Jessica Culver, Ariel Boulicault, Kristin Magyar, Kat Leibbrandt, and Susan Melendez participating in the seasons' opening matches.
Head Coach Dan Tobias: Dan Tobias led his team to a 9-11 record in 2008, giving him a 55-59-8 record in his six years at Arizona. Tobias coached the Wildcats to the program's first appearance in the Sweet 16 in 2005. In 2004, Tobias led the Wildcats to a 15-6 overall record. Additionally, his 6-3 Pac-10 record gave Arizona its first Pac-10 championship in history of the program and was named Pac-10 Coach of the Year for the second time.
Next Up: Next weekend, the Wildcats will kick of conference play in Los Angeles against UCLA and USC. The Wildcats will take on the Bruins on Friday, October 9 at 7 pm before heading across town to take on USC on Sunday, October 11 at 1pm.
