Meet The Cardinal: Jessica Walker

Oct. 1, 2009

Each week GoStanford.com will feature a Q&A with a different member of the 2009 Stanford Women's Volleyball team. This week get to know red-shirt freshman Jessica Walker.

My goals for this season are…
To reach our potential as a team and with that potential make it back to the finals.

I would love to trade places for a day with…
Oprah Winfrey.

My favorite team to watch as a kid was…
I didn’t really watch sports as a kid; I spent most of my time outside playing them. Kickball was one of my favorites.

The talent I’d most like to have is…
Singing. It would really help when I’m off key drowning out the radio.

The best thing about Stanford is…
That although it’s a leading institution academically as well as athletically is still has a welcoming atmosphere that erases any intimidation that may come with being a student here. Also, the support staff is one of a kind.

My funniest teammate is…
Janet Okogbaa, pretty much everything she does is funny, even when it’s not supposed to be.

The sport I am the worst at is…
Tennis. Tennis and volleyball both take hand-eye coordination but for some reason it just doesn’t work for me; maybe if the ball was bigger.

Something about me that others would be surprised to hear is…
I write left-handed but I hit right handed.

My favorite volleyball memory is…
When my first club coach told me that I would be a D-1 volleyball player.

My biggest pet peeve is…
When people litter.

If I could travel anywhere in the world I would go to…
Maldives Islands, because just looking at them in pictures is relaxing.

The best advice I’ve received was…
“If you do all that you can, regret is not a consequence” from my mamma.
