Athletics Saddened by Passing of Josh Carley

Joshua Anthony Carley died of cardiac arrest on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009. He was 34. Josh was born in Southfield, Michigan to Jeff and Kathi Carley. The family moved to Monroe, Oregon when he was eight. In Monroe he attended local schools including Monroe High School where he was a standout student athlete in football, basketball and baseball. In 1990 his high school team won the State basketball title and in 1991 his baseball team won the state baseball title. He was recruited and granted a scholarship to play football at Oregon State. He played from 1993-95 at OSU then transferred to Portland State where he completed his collegiate football career.
In 1998 he married Rachel Fleck and together they had three wonderful children. The couple later divorced in 2007. Josh has been living in Junction City to be with his children which were the love of his life. He'll be remembered as a devoted father, kind hearted, a loving brother and a man with a heart of gold.
His survivors include his three children: Rocco, Sophia and Meah Carley of Junction City. His parents: Jeff and Kathi Carley of Monroe. His brothers: Justin (Kathie) Carley of Junction City and Tony (Allison) Carley of Hillsboro. Grandmother: Fran LaPerna and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
