Alix Klineman Named Pac-10 Volleyball Player Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Commissioner Larry Scott announced today that junior outside hitter Alix Klineman has been named the Pac-10 Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 28-Oct. 4.
With Conference play in full swing, Klineman led 11th-ranked Stanford to a pair of wins over ranked teams, No. 16 UCLA and No. 13 USC. Against the Bruins, the Manhattan Beach, Calif., native tied a then-season-high with 23 kills on a career-high 65 attempts. She tallied 10 digs at UCLA, giving the All-American her third double-double of the season, while also contributing a season-high five solo blocks. Stanford remains undefeated (18-0) against UCLA under head coach John Dunning.
Against USC, a match televised by FSN, Klineman turned in another huge performance posting a season-high 24 kills and registering 11 digs for her second straight double-double. She now leads the team with 165 kills on the year, including 70 in the three conference matches.
For the weekend, the junior outside hitter totaled 47 kills, 21 digs, six solo blocks and 53 points for the Cardinal. Klineman ranks sixth in the Pac-10 in kills per set with 3.67.
This is the third weekly honor for Klineman, and Stanford's Conference leading 68th all-time Player of the Week.
