Andersson Eliminated at All-American Singles Qualifying

No. 26-ranked California women’s tennis junior Mari Andersson was eliminated in the first round of women’s singles qualifying Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the 2009 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. The second-year Golden Bear fell in two sets, 6-2, 6-3, to No. 80 Elze Potgeiter of Texas A&M but rebounded to defeat No. 77 Megan Broderick of Kentucky, 7-5, 6-2, in her consolation match at the Riviera Tennis Club.

Andersson is still alive as a part of the No. 2-ranked doubles team in the country with sophomore Jana Juricova as the two begin play in the doubles main draw on Thursday, Oct. 8. Ranked No. 4 in singles, Juricova will also take part in the singles main draw with No. 18-ranked junior Marina Cossou. For complete results and draws, please visit
