Chan nevertheless has further established herself as one of the top players in the country as the 2009-10 season unfolds.
Chan, the only unseeded player left in the semifinals, faced eighth-ranked Irina Falconi of Georgia Tech this morning. Falconi had lost just nine total games in her three previous wins, and only one out of six sets went past 6-2.
