Women's Swimming Hosts Annual Black and Orange Meet

Corvallis, Ore. - The Oregon State women's swim team began its season with the annual Black and Orange intersquad meet Saturday at Stevens Natatorium with the orange squad taking the event 118-98.
The black squad consisted of team co-captain Signe Larson, returners Brittney Iverson, Nicole Pressprich, Rachael Wahl, Keri Holmstrom, Sydney Boyce, and newcomers Rachel O'Brien, Arianna Gorenc, Amanda Rose, Marisa Warman, and Amy Herbst.
The orange squad was made up of team co-captain Rachel Polack, returners Jenni Dole, Anna Heller, Lisa Chewning, Anna Crandall, and Kate Hagan, newcomers Margo Clinton, Ashleigh Kerekanich Ellie Bradley, Carrie Kelsey, Ivette Dailey-Deaton, and Ocean Trail.
'The girls did a great job today,' women's swimming head coach Larry Liebowitz said following the meet. 'I'm really pleased with how all of the newcomers did today. This is probably the most talented group I've had in my seven years at Oregon State.'
Dole started the scoring for the orange squad by winning the 100 backstroke in a time of 57.09. Crandall added won the 100 butterfly (56.48), the 200 freestyle (1:52.20), the 100 freestyle (52.61) and was the anchor leg of the winning 400 freestyle relay team who also had Dole, Dailey-Deaton, and Hagan.
Hagan also had wins in the 1000 freestyle (10:41.40) and the 500 freestyle (5:19.26) for the orange squad along with Kerekanich's victory in the 50 freestyle (24.33) with Heller's win in the 200 backstroke (2:06.77).
Freshman Gorenc won the first event for the black squad in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.60. Iverson had a victory in the 200 IM (2:08.01), O'Brian won the 200 butterfly (2:03.36) and Warman won the 200 breaststroke (2:27.85).
Oregon State jumps back into the pool on Oct. 16-17 when they participate in the University of the Pacific Invitation in Stockton, Calif.
