No. 19 Cal Ends Road Trip With 2-1 Victory At Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The No. 19 California women's soccer team won its second Pac-10 Conference game of the year with a 2-0 victory over Oregon State on Sunday afternoon at OSU's Pape' Field. The Golden Bears are now 8-3-1 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play while the Beavers are now 8-4-1 and 0-2-0 in Pac-10.
'We played well today in a very touch match,' Cal head coach Neil McGuire said. 'Oregon State was motivated, had a good game plan and gave us all they had. I'm very proud of the players. Our effort this weekend was terrific. To start conference play with two road wins is great for the team.'
Junior forward Alex Morgan added on her 10th goal of the season with 11:07 to play in the game off a dish from redshirt junior Lisa Kevorkian. Morgan went one-v-one with the keeper to beat her for the score.
The Bears tallied three shots on goal with Miranda White adding one into. Cal was outshot by the Beavers, 10-8. Redshirt senior keeper Rosie Aguilera played in goal for the Bears and had to make sure one shot in 90 minutes of play.
Cal extends its all-time advantage to 16-2-1 over the Bears, and it has now won the past five meetings.
Cal returns to the friendly confines of Edwards Stadium next weekend to go toe-to-toe with the L.A. schools. The Bears will open with No. 3 UCLA on Friday, Oct. 16, at 3:30 p.m. before hosting No. 23 USC for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday, Oct. 18. Last season, UCLA advanced to the final of the Women's College Cup while USC lost in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.
