Trojans Move Into 4th After 'The Prestige' Second Round

Sophomore Steve Lim continued his strong play, leading an improved second-round effort for the Trojans on Monday (Oct. 12) as USC moved into fourth place after 36 holes of the 2009 The Prestige at PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.
The No. 9 Trojans are now 5-over 581 (294-287), seven strokes behind first-place TCU (574). Stanford (578) is second while UCLA, which began the day in first, dropped to third (579).
In a shotgun start off the fifth hole, Lim began Monday with a birdie, a bogey and an eagle, setting himself up ultimately for a 1-under 71 that kept him tied for eighth at 1-under 143 (72-71).
Freshman Martin Trainer also carded a 1-under 71 to improve to a tie for 13th at 1-over 145 (74-71). He had two birdies against a bogey Monday.
Junior Daniel Park, playing individually, is tied for 13th at 1-over 145 (74-71) after a five-birdie, four-bogey effort. Freshman T.J. Vogel was also on the move up the leaderboard, rising to a tie for 27th at 4-over 148 (77-71), also with five birdies, four bogeys. Freshman Stewart Hagestad finished tied for 61st at 12-over 153 (73-80).
