Former Devils Shine On Opening Day Of Arizona Fall League

PEORIA, Ariz. - Former Sun Devils baseball stars Ike Davis and Colin Curtis had strong debuts on opening day of the 2009 Arizona Fall League. Curtis and Davis helped lead the Surprise Rafters to a 17-4 win over the Peoria Javelinas at the Peoria Sports Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
Davis, who was an All-American for Arizona State from 2006 to 2008, led the way for Surprise thanks to his 4-6 afternoon. The 2008 first round choice of the New York Mets drove in six runs, four of which came on a grand slam.
Curtis was 3-6 with two RBI for the Rafters. He spent three seasons in Tempe (2004-06) before being selected by the New York Yankees in the fourth round of the 2006 draft.
Davis and Curtis are two of six former Sun Devils playing in the 2009 Arizona Fall League, tops among all schools. The Fall League runs through November 21st at Spring Training sites throughout the valley. For more information, visit MLBFallBall.com.
