Jansen Joins Cougar Tennis

PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University Head Coach Lisa Hart has announced that Lea Jansen has signed a financial aid agreement and will join the Cougar tennis team in January, 2010.

Jansen, from Valleyford, Wash., has been ranked among the top Pacific Northwest junior players in her age group throughout her junior career. She has also been consistently ranked in the top 100 nationally, with her highest ranking at No. 69. Jansen reached the round of 32 in the 14's Easter Bowl and the round of 64 at the 16's National Clay Courts.

'After representing the Pacific Northwest's national team at every age group, Lea has what it takes to compete against the best at the collegiate level,' Hart said, 'Lea's achievements have proven that she is a capable tennis player and I am excited to see what her career at WSU will bring.'

Jansen won the 1A Washington State Championships as a junior in 2009 at Freeman High School. She also won a doubles state championship in 2008.
