Murakami & Women's Cross Country Team Post Wins At Cal Poly Invitational

Junior Shannon Murakami led the women's cross country team to their first team title of the season at the Cal Poly Invitational in San Luis Obispo on Saturday. Murakami continued her streak as the No. 1 runner for the Bruins as she posted her second individual win of the season in a time of 18:01.0. The junior has been UCLA's top finisher in every meet this season.
Sophomore Sadee Martinez (5th, 18:43.9), junior Kelcie Wiemann (6th, 18:46.9) and sophomore Katja Goldring (7th, 18:47.9) also finished in the top 10, while junior Rosa Magana was the No. 5 runner, finishing 12th in a time of 19:05.7.
The Bruins will train for the next two weeks before competing in Long Beach on Friday, Oct. 30 at the Pac-10 Championships.
