Song Leads USC At Stanford Intercollegiate

Sophomore Jennifer Song fired a 4-under 67, good for a tie for fourth, to pace the top-ranked USC women's golf team on the first day of the 2009 Stanford Intercollegiate at the Stanford (Calif.) G.C. Friday.

Arizona State exploded with an 11-under 273 to take the first-round lead while UCLA is in second at 7-under 277. Texas is third (279) and is followed by Arizona (284), Washington (285), San Jose State (287), Oklahoma (288) and USC (289) in seventh.

Song opened with a 1-under front 9 and followed it with a 3-under back 9 for her third straight sub-70 round to start the season.

Sophomore Inah Park is tied for 34th for USC at 2-over 73 while freshman Cyna Rodriguez is tied for 43rd at 3-over 74.

Senior Belen Mozo, returning from off-season shoulder surgery, made her season debut with a 4-over 75 and senior Caroline Kim rounded out USC's efforts with an 8-over 79, tied for 69th.
