Volleyball Drops Match to No. 14 California

Corvallis, Ore. – Despite battling and tying each set late, the Oregon State volleyball team dropped a three-set match to No. 14 California on Saturday evening.
Set scores were 22-25, 23-25, 22-25.
“We just need a little more stability in play night after night; we have to turn it on,” head coach Taras Liskevych said. “We need to forget about these games and get better during the week. You have to want it. To be good at this level it’s about effort. You persevere.”
Defensively, sophomore Betsy Devich (Kirkland, Wash.) dug 11 balls, and Rathgeber had a season-high tying seven blocks.
California was led by Hana Cutura with a match-high 20 kills. Libero Kristen Kathan posted a match-high 19 digs.
Oregon State is now 11-8, 2-5 Pac-10, while California improves to 10-7, 3-4 Pac-10.
Oregon State heads to Los Angeles next weekend, facing the No. 16 USC Women of Troy first on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
Oregon State Notes – Senior Rachel Rourke has 1,715 career kills, 48 away from the school record.
