TUCSON--The Arizona soccer team fell to Washington State 1-0 Sunday afternoon, at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium.
Arizona (3-11-1, 0-4-0) out-shot Washington State (10-3-1, 2-0-1) 12-6, with 3 shots on. Senior Samantha Drees, freshman Kristin Strother, sophomore Jessica Culver, redshirt junior Alex Davis, and freshman Itzel Rodriguez all had two shots on the afternoon.
Washington State only goal came off a penalty kick late in the 84th minute.
The Wildcats are currently 447 minutes without a goal, the last one on October 2 against LMU, when freshman Brittany Berger put one away in the third minute of the game.
'Today's loss certainly stings,' Said co-head coach John Galas, 'The girls did exactly what we asked them to, and we definitely were more aggressive today. In practice, we changed up our defense a little bit in preparation for a team like Washington State. I give full credit to the girls. What they showed us today was a very different team, one we had been trying to bring out to the field for a while.'
Up next, the Cats host conference rivals Arizona State on Friday, October 23 at 7 pm at Murphey Field at Mulcahy Stadium.
