Casey, Barkley Earn Player Of The Week Honors

Sophomore defensive tackle Jurrell Casey was named the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week for his performance at Notre Dame, while freshman quarterback Matt Barkley was selected as the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week.
Casey had a game-best 10 tackles (1 for a loss) and forced a fumble in USC's 34-27 win at Notre Dame, the Trojans' eighth consecutive victory over the Irish. Casey helped USC's defense limit the Irish to 82 rushing yards.
On the year, Casey has 26 tackles, including 4.5 for losses (with 1.5 sacks), plus 2 fumble recoveries and 2 forced fumbles.
Joining Casey as Pac-10 Players of the Week this week were Arizona quarterback Nick Foles (offense) and California punter Bryan Anger (special teams).
Casey is the fourth Trojan honored as Pac-10 Player of the Week in 2009, joining Joe McKnight (for his showing at Ohio State), safety Taylor Mays (California) and wide receiver Damian Williams (California).
Barkley hit 19-of-29 passes for a career-best 380 yards with 2 touchdowns at Notre Dame . He was 11-of-14 for 234 yards in the second half, including completing 8 consecutive throws.
He currently is 22nd nationally in passing efficiency (150.7, third in Pac-10).
