Men's Eight Takes Second at Head of the Charles

BOSTON, Mass. - The California men's crew team came in second overall and first among collegiate boats in the eight at the Head of Charles this past weekend in Boston, Mass. The men's eight outlasted third-place Washington and crossed the finish line at 14:45.55. The men's four came in fifth overall and third among collegiate boats.
In the men's eight, Cal edged the Huskies. Washington took third with a time of 14:45.79. The Tideway Scullers won the race, clocking a time of 14:33.23. Rounding out the top five were the USRowing Training Center in fourth at 14:46.54 and Brown University in fifth at 14:49.37. Rowing for Cal were Zachary Vlahos, Nick Lucey, Nareg Guregian, James Long-Lerno, Olivier Siegelaar, Spencer Crowley, Will Dean, Nikola Zunic and Calum Wright.
In the men's four, the Bears came in fifth with a time of 16:50.07. Cal beat Stanford, as the Cardinal took sixth with a time of 16:52.10. Wisconsin won the race with a time of 16:28.29. Harvard was the other collegiate boat to finish in the top three (16:41.24).
Cal returns to the water on Saturday, Oct. 24, for the Head of the American in Sacramento.
