SOMERS, Wis.-- Stanford swimmer Eugene Godsoe was named the Counsilman Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week following his performance at the Pacific Invitational last Saturday.

The junior from Greensboro, N.C. won both backstroke events, posting a time of 48.44 in the 100-yard discipline, before swimming 1:47.40 in the 200-yard event. The 100 time was a 'B' standard mark for the NCAA Championships.

Godsoe also swam the anchor leg of the 800 relay which swam 6:49.31 and finished second and swam the second leg in the 200 freestyle relay (1:24.19) which finished third.

Godsoe, a two-time All-American in both backstrokes, is currently second all-time in the 200 backstroke and third all-time in the 100 backstroke. Overall he is a 10-time All-American and defending Pac-10 Champion in both events.

The Cardinal are back in action this Homecoming Saturday when both the men's and women's teams welcome back their alumni for a meet starting at 9 a.m.
