Stanford Set To Host Wilson/ITA Northwest Regional Championships Friday

Singles and Doubles Draws | Preseason ITA Rankings

STANFORD, Calif.- Stanford serves as the host site for this weekend's Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northwest Championships, with competition scheduled for Oct. 23-26 at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

In addition to host Stanford, the event will showcase the top players from the following ITA Northwest region schools: California, Cal Poly, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Nevada, Oregon, Pacific, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's, San Francisco, San Jose State, Santa Clara, UC Davis, Washington and Washington State.

Twenty-four other ITA Regional Championships for NCAA Division I men and women are taking place during this month at campuses throughout the country. The singles finalists and doubles champion from each regional earn berths to the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, slated for Nov. 6-9 in Charlottesville, Va.

Winners and finalists from the various ITA Regional Championships around the country, plus at-large selections, will make up the singles field of 32 and the 16-team doubles draw.

All nine Cardinal players will be in action this weekend. Junior Hilary Barte enters the weekend as the tournament's No. 2 seed while senior Lindsay Burdette (No. 10), junior Carolyn McVeigh (13), freshman Mallory Burdete (No. 14) and freshman Stacy Tan (No. 15) are also seeded and receive first-round byes.

Junior Jennifer Yen opens the tournament against San Francisco's Alana McMahon, sophomore Veronica Li has earned a first-round bye, sophomore Logan Hansen squares off against Portland's Megan Sporndli and freshman Natalie Dillon draws Dahra Zamudio of UC Davis.

Stanford has four doubles teams entered. Two squads are seeded: Barte and Lindsay Burdette at No. 2 and Mallory Burdette and Tan at No. 7. Those teams will receive first-round byes.

The duo of Li and McVeigh has also earned a first-round bye while the opponents for Hansen and Yen have yet to be determined.

Dillon will pair up with California's Catie Visico and play Fresno State's team of Bianca Modoc and Anastasia Petukhova.
