Oct. 27, 2009
BERKELEY, Calif.- For the second time in his career, Bradley Klahn pulled off a tournament double-dip, capturing the singles and doubles titles at the Wilson/ITA Northwest Regional Championships on Tuesday afternoon.
The tournament's No. 2 seed in the singles draw, Klahn defeated California's Pedro Zerbini, the event's No. 4 seed, 7-5, 6-3 in the title match. With the win, Klahn becomes the third consecutive Stanford player to win the ITA Northwest Regional singles title following Alex Clayton (2008) and Richard Wire (2007).
In the doubles final, Klahn and teammate Ryan Thacher captured the hardware with an 8-3 victory over Fresno State's Mirko Zapletal and Taylor Leiby. The top doubles team in the draw, Klahn and Thacher were rarely tested during their impressive tournament run.
Klahn has been victorious in both singles and doubles once before in his career, becoming just the fourth player in school history to claim both the Pac-10 Singles and Doubles Championships in 2009.
Stanford is back in action this weekend, competing in the Battle of the Bay Invitational.
