Bruin Bloodline: Jumps Coach Anthony Curran Checks In With A Training Update
Oct. 28, 2009
Jumps coach Anthony Curran checks in with the Bruin Bloodline with an update on the men's and women's jumpers.
Hi fellow Bruins and UCLA track enthusiasts. This is Men's and Woman's Jumps Coach, Anthony Curran.
I just wanted to let you all know we are off to a great start. The horizontal jumpers are running and bounding and are in the fourth week of their training. Everyone is strong, healthy and getting much better. NCAA outdoor competitors Taylor Hobson, Jonathan Clark and Danielle Watson will lead the rest of the jumpers in their pursuit of greatness.
The pole vaulters got off the ground for the first time this year and are looking better than ever. We will again be one of the strongest combined men's and woman's teams with more depth than any other school in the nation. Johnny Quinn, Greg Woepse, Casey DiCesare, Katy Viuf, Tori Anthony, and Tori Pena will all be in the hunt at NCAA's.
I would like to thank some of my Bruin teammates and friends for their help in sharing their knowledge with me this past year. This Bloodline from Bruin to Bruin has been such a blessing to me. I am truly thankful for all of you guys. Over the past two years, I've called on a few of you and you all have been so helpful in giving me advice. I am always more motivated and anxious to pass on your great knowledge and experience with the athletes who are training now at UCLA. Willie Banks, Milan Tiff, Dwight Stones, Del Davis, Mike Powell, Lee Balkin and Mike Tully; you guys have all made me a better coach and have had a huge influence on me as a coach and as a friend. Thanks again for your insight and willingness to share with me all of the things that made you the phenomenal athletes that you were at UCLA and throughout your careers. I know with your help we will only get better and we will continue to share with everyone how great it is to be a Bruin!
Sincerely, From The Bruin Bloodline, Anthony Curran
