LAS VEGAS - In cold weather and strong wins, the Washington women's golf team struggled in the final round at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown and finished the tournament sixth overall.
Starting the day one stroke off leader Arizona at 3-over, the Huskies couldn't find the groove that they enjoyed during an impressive first and second round. After climbing up to second with a 292 on Tuesday, Washington shot a 320 in the final round.
'It was a frutstrating day,' said head coach Mary Lou Mulflur. 'I think a lot of it was nerves. We got off to a rough start and it stream-rolled from there.'
Washington was led by Karinn Dickinson, who maintained ninth place throughout the round with a 4-over 76, and finished the tournament with the low Husky score of 221.
Anya Alvarez, who started the day in fourth place, shot an 11-over 83 in the final round. Alvarez used strong scores from the first two rounds, including a minus-3 69 from the first round, to finish tied for 22nd.
Another top ten performer through two rounds, Molly Aronsson, finished the tournament 13-over with an 85 in the third.
Other Husky scorers on the day included Christian Yoon, who finished the tournament 228, 12-over. Sadena Parks finished the tournament 23-over, 239.
The Huskies' finish up their fall schedule with a trip to the Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational in Kahuka, Hawaii, next weekend.
