Golfers Tied for Fifth at Turtle Bay

The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team was looking up the leader board after the first round of the Turtle Bay Collegiate Invitational Monday.
The Bruins were tied for fifth place after posting a score of four-over par 292, 10 shots behind first-place UC Davis, which led the field with a six-under par 282. Trailing the Aggies was runner-up San Jose State at even par 288, followed by California at 289 (+1) and USC at 291 (+3). The Bruins were tied with Oregon.
Individually for the Bruins, freshman Tiffany Lua led the team with a first-round score of 70 (-2). Lua, who was in fifth place, made four birdies and two bogeys in her round. Sophomore All-American Stephanie Kono posted a solid one-under par round of 71 on Monday and was tied for sixth place. Junior All-American Glory Yang was tied for 18th place after her round of 73 (+1) and fourth-year junior Lalita Boonnoppornkul was tied for 62nd following a round of 78 (+6). Sophomore Brianna Do's score of 79 (+7) was not used, but she was tied for 72nd. Freshman Stacy Kim, playing as an individual, was also tied for 62nd after carding a 78 (+6).
UC Davis' Alice Kim was the first round leader at five-under par 67.
