Nov. 2, 2009
LOS ANGELES - Three tournaments are on tap this week as members of the UCLA men's and women's tennis teams continue fall tournament action beginning this Wednesday.
ITA Intercollegiate Indoor Championships
One of the biggest individual events of the year begins on Thursday, as Yale University plays host to the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships, Nov. 5-8, in West Haven, Conn. Bruin men's player Amit Inbar earned a spot in the singles event by winning the Wilson/ITA Southwest Regionals at Pepperdine in October. He is the lone entrant for the men's team at that tournament. On the women's side, Yasmin Schnack will also be playing singles in West Haven, as she earned an at-large selection into the 32-player draw. She and teammate Andrea Remynse also earned a spot in the 16-team doubles draw by winning the ITA Regionals in San Diego, Calif. You can follow the action from West Haven by clicking HERE
Southern California Intercollegiates
With the exception of Inbar, everyone else on the men's team will be in action at UCLA this week, as the Los Angeles Tennis Center serves as the host site for the Southern California Intercollegiates, Nov. 4-8. Evan Lee, Alex Brigham, Ahmed Ismail and Jeff Gast kick things off in the qualifying draw on Wednesday. Nick Meister, Holden Seguso, Matt Brooklyn and Kallim Stewart are all entered in the main draw beginning on Thursday. Match times and results can be found by clicking HERE.
Duals in the Desert
The UCLA women's team is sending six players to the Duals in the Desert tournament, Nov. 5-8, in Cathedral City, Calif. Maya Johansson, Stephanie Hoffpauir, Jordan Dockendorf, Pamela Montez, Nina Pantic and Carling Seguso will all be representing UCLA at that event.
