Women's Soccer Faces Arizona State on Friday

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State women's soccer team closes out the regular season this weekend with a pair of important matches as the Beavers return to action on Friday, Nov. 6, at 6:00 p.m. against Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.
'It's a huge weekend for the program and we are going to go down there and give it everything we have,' head coach Linus Rhode said. 'We've done a good job of sticking with our game plan in recent weeks and have come away with some positive results. We need to do the same thing this weekend against a pair of good teams.'
Oregon State, looking for its first NCAA Women's Soccer Championship berth since 1994, enters the weekend No. 19 in the NCAA Ratings Percentage Index with a mark of 11-6-1 overall, 3-4-0 in conference play.
The Beavers split a pair of games last weekend, falling to No. 19 Washington State, 1-0, before defeating Washington, 2-1, on 'Senior Day.'
Freshman Chelsea Buckland leads the Oregon State attack as the forward leads the team with six goals and 14 points on the season. Melissa Peck ranks second on the squad with 12 points while Ashley Seal has added 11 points for Oregon State.
Oregon State has been strong on the defensive side of the ball, with senior Ashley Wood leading the way in goal for the Beavers. The senior leads the team and ranks fourth in the Pac-10 Conference with a 0.75 goals against average as the Oregon State defense is holding opponents to just 1.00 goals per game.
Arizona State enters the week with a mark of 7-7-3, 0-6-1 in league play after the Sun Devils fell to California and Stanford last weekend. Alexandra Elston leads the team with five goals and 16 points while goalkeeper Alyssa Gillmore carries a 1.93 goals against average into the match.
Arizona State leads the all-time series with Oregon State, 8-3-0, as the Beavers last defeated the Sun Devils during the 2006 season.
Following the match with Arizona State, Oregon State will play its final match of the regular season when the Beavers travel to Tucson, Ariz., to face Arizona at 10:00 a.m.
