Bears Complete Play at ASU Thunderbird Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - The California women's tennis team completed fall individual tournament competition winning three matches on the final day of the 2009 Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational at Whiteman Tennis Center, Sunday, Nov. 8. Senior Kasia Siwosz took out Whitney Taney of Michigan in three sets, 4-6, 7-6, 6-1, and freshman Tayler Davis defeated Michelle Sulahian of Michigan, 6-3, 6-1. Davis and sophomore Stephany Chang earned a doubles victory over Denise Muresan and Rika Tatsuno of Michigan, 8-6.
In additional singles matches, Chang fell to Tatsuno, 6-1, 6-3; freshman Nelly Radeva lost in three sets to Juleitte Coupez of San Diego, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5; and sophomore Catalina Visico dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision to Kari Wig of Michigan. Davis and Siwosz combined for a doubles match but fell, 8-4, to Christina Keesey and Paloma Escobedo of Ohio State.
The Golden Bears will begin dual matches the next time they take the court as the team travels to the islands for a Jan. 14, 2010, date with the Rainbow Wahine of Hawai'i in Honolulu. Please check CalBears.com for more information.
