TUCSON--Arizona senior guard Nic Wise showed no ill effects from his preseason ankle injury, leading all scorers with 21 points in leading the Wildcatsin a romp over Division II Western New Mexico Tuesday night in McKale Center, 96-55.

The Wildcats shot 53 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range, plus played good team defense in holding the visiting Mustangs to 31 percent from the floor. UA also came up with 14 steals in that effort. Brendon Lavender had four steals and Wise and Garland Judkins added three each.

Wise led four players in double figures and nearly pulled a double-double with eight assists in the exhibition game. Jamelle Horne added 15 points and nine rebounds, Derrick Williams had 14 and Lavender dropped in 11.

UA head coach Sean Miller used 15 players and went to the bench freely, with Solomon Hill, Kyle Fogg and Derrick Williams all logging more than 14 minutes as substitutes.

WNMU was led by forward Eli Crevelone with 15 points and guard Justin Willams with 11. The Mustangs struggled from three-point range, hitting seven of 28 shots from beyond the arc.

The Cats outrebounded the Mustangs 47-32.

Wise drove the lane for his 21st point five minutes into the second half, and then fed Jamelle Horne for a dunk on the fast break to give UA a 65-30 lead. The Cats got a little sloppy and allowed WNMU to outscore them 7-4 for the next four minutes before a steal by Hill and a feed to Kevin Parrom ended the mini drought with an easy score.
