Corey Hawkins Inks With Men's Basketball Program

Local product and scoring machine Corey Hawkins has become the second signee for the Arizona State men's basketball program, ASU coach Herb Sendek has announced.
Hawkins led Estrella Foothills High School to back-to-back 3A state championships in 2008 and 2009. He earned the Arizona Republic's All-Arizona first-team honors and has led his team to a 60-4 record in the past two seasons.
Hawkins, the son of former NBA player Hersey Hawkins, averaged 29.8 points, 7.6 boards, 5.1 steals and 4.5 assists per game last year. He shot 41 percent from three-point range and 69 percent from the field.
In his sophomore year (2007-08), he averaged 22.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.8 steals and 4.0 assists in his sophomore year. He shot 55 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range and led Estrella to the state title.
