Day 4 in Columbus: Team Time
Nov. 14, 2009
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The day after defeating No. 15 and host team Ohio State, The Oregon State University women's soccer team took the day to enjoy the first NCAA Tournament win in school history.
The team activity today was an excursion to the family home of Oregon State women's soccer trainer Danielle Kilboy. Originally from Columbus, Kilboy's family was gracious enough to open the home to the team for lunch and outdoor games.
The weather here in Columbus could not have been better. It has been sunny and in the 60's since the moment we touched down Wednesday. Today was no different. The team enjoyed homemade cooking for the first time in days which brought a good change.
The team enjoyed a variety of outdoor recreational/tailgating type of games. The every so popular bean bag toss, croquet, and ping-pong topped the list of favorites along with the card game Apples to Apples.
The team enjoyed being out of the hotel and having some time to have fun and spend time together as a whole. Following the excursion to the Killboy's, it was back to the hotel for more free/home work time.
For dinner it was out to Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse where the team was treated to a celebratory dinner the eve of the second round match between the Beavers and the No. 3 seeded Florida Gators slated for 1:00 PM EST Sunday.
The team is as loose as it possibly can be and is having a great time out here in Ohio. It knows it is a part of something special for Oregon State but its mission is not yet done. There is a hunger on this team to keep playing and keep winning that is not yet satisfied.
