Florida State-Cal Post-Game Notes

The Bears now stand at 13-17-1 in 17 appearances NCAA Tournament. They are 2-3 when playing in Tallahassee and 2-4 in the state of Florida during the NCAA Tournament.
Cal second-round game against FSU marked the sixth time in the past nine years that the Bears have advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Bears' trip to Florida for the NCAA Tournament is their fourth trip to Florida for the Big Dance in the past five years. Last year, Cal traveled to Gainesville for a first-round game against No. 7-seeded Florida and lost, 2-1.
The Bears have experience playing in dreary and sunny conditions at the Seminole Soccer Complex. In 2005, it was roughly 70 degrees with a 5-10 mph wind out of the northeast and rained steadily through most of the FSU-Cal game, which ended in a 2-1 Seminole victory. For the 2006 Florida State 3-1 win, it was mid-60's, mostly sunny with no chance of rain. The weather for Sunday's game was mid-70s and sunny.
The 2009 NCAA Tournament mirrored the 2006 Big Dance. In both years, the Bears beat Auburn in the first round to advance to play host Florida State in the second round.
Cal's trip to Florida is the fourth time in the past five NCAA Tournaments that the Bears have played in Florida. Last year, the Bears lost to No. 7-seeded Florida in Gainesville. Cal traveled to Tallahassee for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament in 2006 as well as for the third round in 2005. Cal lost in 2005 and 2006 in Tallahassee, Fla., to the Seminoles.
