Nov. 16, 2009
TUCSON, Ariz. – As the Arizona football team returns to the practice field to prepare for this Saturday’s showdown with the Oregon Ducks, the University continues to make preparations for the final home game of the 2009 season.
The Wildcats host the No. 11 Ducks in a game that will be televised in primetime by ABC to a guaranteed 51 percent of the nation beginning at 6 p.m. (MST). The day will kick off as the University hosts for the first time ESPN’s College GameDay, the nation’s premier college football preview show.
Host Chris Fowler and analysts Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso and Desmond Howard will be on the set at 8 a.m. (MST) for the two-hour show, which will be produced live from the UA Mall. The live show continues through 10 a.m., but there are several other live shots both prior to and following College GameDay, including all throughout the day.
Specific details for the GameDay set location are being finalized by UA and ESPN officials. Fans are encouraged to attend the event free of charge, with more information to be announced throughout the week.
Saturday’s game is being billed as a “Red Out” game in which all fans are strongly encouraged to wear red in Arizona Stadium. Rally towels will be distributed to the Zona Zoo student section and the players will don red uniforms for the game.
Tickets remain available for Saturday’s game, but officials anticipate a sell-out crowd by week’s end, if not sooner. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance of the game through the McKale Ticket Office and to pick them up in person to avoid the game-day rush on Saturday. Tickets are available online after business hours.
