Nnemkadi Ogwumike Named Pac-10 Women's Basketball Player Of The Week

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford sophomore forward Nnemkadi Ogwumike's stellar play in the Cardinal's two road wins over the weekend has resulted in her being named Pac-10 Player of the Week for the first time in her career, the conference announced Monday.
Ogwumike led the Cardinal with 23.0 points over the two contests while also pulling down 9.5 rebounds a game and shooting 64.0 percent (16-for-25) from the field.
The Cypress, Texas native opened the 2009-10 season by putting up a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds in Friday's 89-56 rout of Old Dominion, then followed it up with 21 points and seven rebounds in an 81-66 victory at No. 25/- Rutgers two days later.
She used her size and athleticism to grab a total of 19 rebounds over the weekend, with nine of those coming on the offensive end. Ogwumike also made her presence known on the defensive end, grabbing five steals on the weekend.
No. 2/2 Stanford returns to action Thurs., Nov. 17 for its 2009-10 home opener at Maples Pavilion, hosting the Pepperdine Waves for a 7 p.m. tip.
