The Bruins play their final two Fall season scrimmages this week, hosting Biola on Wednesday and College of the Canyons on Friday at Easton Stadium. Both games start at 2 p.m. Admission is free and parking is $10 in Lot 11.
Last week, UCLA continued its Fall schedule with three games. On Wednesday against Fullerton JC, the teams played 3 1/2 innings before going into situational hitting. The Bruins got right on the board in the bottom of the first on a solo home run by Megan Langenfeld. In the second, another long ball put the Bruins up 4-0. With one out, Marti Reed and Amy Crawford had back-to-back singles, and one out later, Andrea Harrison belted a three-run shot.
In the third, the Bruins tacked on another tally. Langenfeld was hit by a pitch and pinch-run for by Grace Murray, who moved to second on a Kaila Shull sacrifice and then stole third. One out later, Dani Yudin singled to right to make it 5-0.
On Friday against Cerritos, the Bruin pitching allowed just one hit in six innings. Kerr threw three hitless innings, fanning seven and walking one, before giving way to Langenfeld, who pitched one inning, allowing a hit and striking out one. Rodino hurled the last two innings and was perfect, striking out two.
The Bruins were held scoreless until the fourth when they scored a pair on a two-run homer by Yudin with Langenfeld aboard. In the fifth, a one-out bomb by Andrea Harrison made it 3-0. Langenfeld and Monica Harrison each had two hits.
UCLA's trio of pitchers again allowed just one hit in six innings on Saturday against Mt. San Antonio College. Langenfeld tossed the first three innings, allowing one hit and striking out three. Kerr pitched the fourth and fifth innings, striking out all six batters she faced, while Rodino threw a 1-2-3 sixth inning.
The Bruins scored three times in the first. Andrea Harrison led off with a double and was brought home by another double from Monica Harrison. One out later, Shull singled to put runners at the corners and Julie Burney doubled both runners home to make it 3-0.
UCLA tacked on three more in the fourth. Andrea Harrison led off with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice by Monica Harrison and scored on a single by Shull. Burney then launched a two-run homer to make it 6-0. Burney went 3-for-3 with four RBI, while Andrea Harrison and Shull each had two hits.
