Bobby Warshaw Earns Academic All-America Nod

Towson, Md. - Stanford defender Bobby Warshaw was named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® Men's Soccer Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Warshaw was named to the second team after a season where he led the Cardinal in goals with six as well as marshalling the Stanford defense that allowed just 16 goals in 17 games. The Cardinal also led the Pac-10 in shutouts with seven.
Before the season, Warshaw was named to the Herman Trophy Watch List, the award given to the top collegiate soccer play in the nation. He is now a two-time first team All-Pac-10 player after being named to the team in 2009 on Tuesday.
The Mechanicsburg, Pa. native carries a 3.67 GPA while majoring in political science. Warshaw was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic first team in 2008, while the 2009 team will be announced in December.
Warshaw and the rest of the Cardinal will face Saint Mary's in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
