Nov. 18, 2009
Corvallis, Ore. – The Oregon State softball team has signed two for the 2011 roster, announced Wednesday by head coach Kirk Walker.
Hannah Bouska (Salem, Ore./McNary HS) and Isabelle Batayola (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt HS) have both committed to coming to Oregon State in 2011.
“Both Hannah and Izzy are tremendous athletes that have dynamic and explosive skills,” Walker said “It is always exciting to add great athletes from the Northwest that have Pac 10 level playing skills.”
Hannah Bouska (Salem, Ore./McNary HS) INF
Hannah Bouska comes to Oregon State after being named a three-time All-Conference selection, also being named All-State one season. She has consistently hit over .400 and posted an on-base percentage of over .500 at all levels of play that she’s competed in. She was named the 2008 Oregonlive.com Fans Player of the Year.
Bouska has been a multi-sport athlete, competing in basketball, volleyball and running varsity cross country. And outside of athletics, she volunteers her time with the Keizer Giving Tree Program, Special Olympics, serving as a teacher’s assistant at a local grade school and putting on softball clinics.
“Hannah has been playing at the Gold level for a while now and competed in the Gold Nationals as a junior,” Walker said. “We see Hannah’s explosive speed and dynamic style of play to be an exciting addition to our program. She brings great speed and surprising power and is a solid defensive player.”
Isabelle Batayola (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt HS) INF/UTIL
Isabelle Batayola is coming off a junior season, where she served as team captain that culminated in All-King County Second Team honors at shortstop and being named Roosevelt High School’s Most Valuable Player. She received the same accolades as a sophomore and was named to the All-King County Honorable Mention squad as a freshman.
In travel ball, Batayola was a member of the ASA 16A National Championship team, was a Colorado Fireworks Champion and Valley Invite Champion. She played for the NW Blaze for the 2009 season.
In addition to her play on the field, Batayola also has been named to her school’s honor roll and is a member of the National Honor Society.
“Izzy brings a ton of versatility and some very high level experience,” Walker said. “She played for the Beaverton Blaze 16U team that won the ASA National Championship this last summer. Being an integral part of a championship level team is a very special experience that helps a player set high level expectations personally as well as team wise.”
