Some more information on the signees:
Alix Johnson - Mt. Carmel High School - San Diego, CA
Alix Johnson, a speedy outfielder from Mt. Carmel High School, will remain a 'Sundevil' as Mt. Carmel are also known as Sundevils. As one of the inaugural members of the Renegades (Tillett/Fox) team, she's been a mainstay in centerfield since the team formed as a 14U ballclub. Her amazing speed allows her to cover vast ground in the outfield. At the plate, she has the rare ability to slap or hit for power. And with her speed, she's always a threat to steal a base. Her speed, power, and overall athleticism will make for some exciting softball in Tempe. Alix has been named to numerous all-state teams and is also a tremendous basketball player.
Mary Spiel – Corona High School - Tempe AZ
Mary is a left handed hitting outfielder. Mary brings speed, power, athleticism, and a competitive spirit with her to ASU. She currently plays on the Arizona Hotshots Gold team and has also played for Keith Householder’s 16U Hotshot team. Mary was honored after her junior season with many post season awards including the Class 5A softball All-State team. In addition to softball, Mary is an outstanding golfer.
The Sun Devil Softball family is proud to announce the addition of these two tremendous athletes and what they will mean to the extraordinary legacy that is Arizona State Softball, as it continues to build its place in collegiate softball history.
