Women's Swimming Back in Action at Toshiba Classic

LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Oregon State women's swimming team jumped back into the pool at the Toshiba Classic Thursday, hosted by UC San Diego at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach Calif.
The three day event played host to 25 women's programs who competed in five different events on the day: 200y freestyle relay, 500y freestyle, 200y individual medley, 50y freestyle, and 400y medley relay.
The event marked the first time this season where Hailey Bambusch has competed for the Beavers.
The best finish for any Beaver was ninth place finish in the 50y freestyle by Kerkanich with a time of 23.44. She took a year away from swimming but has not lost her touch. It is the first time this season that she has broken the 24 second mark in the event. It also puts her fourth on the top-10 list for that event.
Lisa Chewning finished 26th in the 200y individual medley with a time of 2:06.34 seconds which beat her season best by exactly five seconds.
The Toshiba Classic continues tomorrow with seven more events: 200 Medley Relay, 400 Individual Medley, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke, and the 800 Freestyle Relay.
