LONG BEACH, Calif.-- Julia Smit broke the school-record in the 200 backstroke, posting a time of 1:52.83 as the Cardinal finished off the Toshiba Cup with five more wins on Saturday. It is her fourth individual school-record on The Farm.
Smit for the three-day meet won three events, today's backstroke, as well as the 200 and 400 individual medleys, all “A” standard times for the 19-time All-American. Smit broke Misty Hyman's 11-year old record of 1:53.12 in 1998 to finish off the weekend. She was also a part of three winning freestyle relay teams, the 200 and 800 earlier this week, and today, the 400 relay.
Dwelley led three Cardinal in the 100 freestyle with a best of 48.57, ahead of Webb (48.90) and Woodward (49.10), all “B” standard times.
Kelsey Ditto completed a solid showing in Long Beach by winning the 1650 freestyle with a “B” standard time of 16:12.25. It was Ditto's second individual win, as she set the meet record in the 500 on Thursday.
In Arizona on the second of three days at the Wildcat Diving Invite, Meg Hostage led three Cardinal in the finals of the one-meter, finishing fourth with a score of 267.45. Carmen Stellar was sixth (260.65) and Mary Beth Corbett eighth (245.40).
