Nov. 23, 2009

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- USC sophomore setter Kendall Bateman (Manhattan Beach/Mira Costa HS) was named Pac-10 Conference Player of the Week after leading the Women of Troy to two 3-0 sweeps last weekend at No. 18 Oregon and Oregon State.

In two matches, she has 80 assists and 10 digs while the Trojans hit a combined .347 for the weekend.

In the win at No. 18 Oregon, she recorded 40 assists with five digs and three block assists as USC hit .361 for the match. Against Oregon State, she tallied 40 assists again as the team hit .327.

Prior to the weekend, Bateman led the nation for most assists per set and now has a 12.30 aps average on the season.

This was Bateman's first Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and USC's 44th overall selection. With Lauren Williams winning the honor last week, it's the first time that USC has garnered back-to-back conference honors since 2001 when Katie Olsovsky became the second Trojan player to earn back-to-back nods (Oct. 15 and Oct. 22).
