Cougar Swimming Adds Two
Nov. 25, 2009
PULLMAN, Wash. - Taylor Indahl and Lora Lougee have each signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Washington State University swimming program next fall, Cougar Head Coach Erica Quam announced, Wednesday.
'Taylor had a breakout summer during the long course season, especially in the breaststroke and IM events.' Quam said. 'I've been watching her progress for several years now and am excited to have her coming to WSU. She got along great with the team and seemed immediately comfortable with the coaches.'
Quam added, 'Lora is highly motivated and had WSU at the top of her list from the time we began speaking with her. She has shown a level of maturity and genuineness that will add a lot to next year's incoming class. Her distance events are improving dramatically and I believe she will step in to make an immediate difference in those events.'
Indahl is a senior at Gig Harbor High School, is a four-time league champion in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke. In addition, she was a district champion in the 100 breast as a senior.
'WSU is the perfect fit for me,' Indahl said. 'It felt right from the beginning, both athletically and academically.'
Lougee is a distance freestyle swimmer from Santa Maria, Calif. She attends Pioneer Valley High School and earlier this month captured the 500 and 1000 freestyle events at the Southern California Swimming's Dual in the Pool while competing for the Santa Maria Swim Club.
'I'm excited for the opportunity to be representing Washington State where I know I'll maximize my swimming and academic career,' Lougee said. 'During my recruiting trip I saw how bonded and great the team was, and wanted to be a part of that.'
