Dec. 1, 2009
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State men's basketball team returns to action this weekend as the Beavers host Colorado in the Pac-10/Big 12 Hardwood Series on Friday, Dec. 4, at 8:00 p.m. The game will be nationally-televised by FSN and tickets can be purchased by contacting the Oregon State ticket office at 1-800-GO-BEAVS or by clicking here.
'Colorado has shown they are a good team so it will be a tough game. They have some losses but were in every game against some really good teams. It will be a very interesting game,' head coach Craig Robinson said. 'Their style of play is similar to ours. I think we need to assert our supremacy on defense like we did in the George Washington game in order to win.'
Oregon State enters with a mark of 2-3 on the season after picking up a 64-57 win over George Washington on Saturday. President of the United States Barack Obama was in attendance for the contest as Seth Tarver led the way for the Beavers with 18 points.
Tarver continues to lead the Oregon State attack as the forward enters the week averaging 13.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. The active steals leader in the Pac-10 Conference, Tarver leads the league with 2.8 steals per game.
Colorado enters with a mark of 4-2 on the season after going 1-2 at the EA Sports Maui Invitational last week. The Buffaloes are led by guard Cory Higgins, who leads the team with 20.5 points per game.
The Buffaloes are currently shooting 50.8 percent from the floor while holding opponents to 44.8 percent from the field.
The Oregon State women's soccer team will be honored at halftime of the contest for their efforts throughout the 2009 season. The Beavers made the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship for the second time in school history and advanced to the Round of 16 for the first time ever, finishing the year with a mark of 14-8-1.
Following the contest with the Buffaloes, Oregon State will return to action on Sunday, Dec. 6, when the Beavers host Cal State Bakersfield at 2:00 p.m.
