Locker, Mitchell and Kahut Named Pac-10 Football Players of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Quarterback Jake Locker of Washington, tackle Earl Mitchell of Arizona and kicker Justin Kahut of Oregon State have been named Pac-10 Players of the Week in football.

Locker, a junior from Ferndale, Wash., led Washington to a 42-10 upset win against No. 19-ranked California.  Locker accounted for five touchdowns as he completed 19 of 23 passes (.826) for 248 yards and three touchdowns of 40, 21 and 13 yards with no interceptions.  On the ground, he rushed 14 times for 77 yards (5.5) and two touchdowns of 19 and 2 yards.  Behind Locker, Washington amassed 463 yards of total offense (177 rushing, 286 passing) with no turnovers. 

Mitchell, a junior from Houston, Texas, keyed Arizona's defensive effort in the Wildcats' 21-17 upset road win at No. 18-ranked USC.  Mitchell had six tackles, five solo, including three tackles for loss (-12) and two quarterback sacks (-11).  The Arizona defense limited USC to 282 yards total offense and posted three quarterback sacks (-17). 

Kahut, a junior from Portland, Ore., kept Oregon State in the game in the Beavers` heart-stopping 37-33 loss at No. 7-ranked Oregon.  Kahut was a perfect 4-4 on field goal attempts, connecting from 49, 28, 29 and 45 yards, and 3-3 on PATs to account for 15 points.  

Also nominated for offensive player of the week honors were running back LaMichael James of Oregon, quarterback Nick Foles of Arizona and flanker James Rodgers of Oregon State.  Also nominated on defense were ends Daniel Teo'Nesheim of Washington and Tyson Alualu of California.  Kick returner Isi Sofele of California was nominated for special teams play.
