Soni Wins Big At Golden Goggles

Dec. 8, 2009

World champion Rebecca Soni, who won a pair of U.S. national titles last week in Federal Way, Wash., was named female athlete of the year at the end of November at the Golden Goggles, which honors the year's top American swimming performances.

Soni set a world record and won a gold medal in the 100 breaststroke in Rome at the 2009 World Championships. The Olympian from Plainsboro, N.J., also earned a silver in the 50 breaststroke.

At the recently completed 2009 AT&T Short Course National Championships, Soni won titles in the 100y and 200y breast, winning both relatively unchallenged.
