Gerhart and Owusu Named Walter Camp All-Americans

Dec. 10, 2009

NEW HAVEN, Conn.-- Stanford's Toby Gerhart and Chris Owusu were named to the Walter Camp Foundation's All-America team, with the Cardinal running back earning a spot on the first team and Owusu being named to the second team for his kick return duties.

Gerhart is the 52nd first team All-American in Stanford history, joining fellow backs: Edward Cummings (1962), Hugh Gallarneau (1940), Bobby Grayson (1934, 1935), Ray Handley (1964), Glyn Milburn (1992), Phil Moffatt (1930), Brad Muster (1986), Darrin Nelson (1981) and Ernie Nevers (1925) on the Cardinal's storied list.

Gerhart leads the nation in rushing with 1,736 yards and 26 touchdowns, both single-season records. His 160 points this season, at a 13.3 points per game average, is also the nation's most.

Owusu has run three kickoff returns for touchdowns this season and is averaging 32.5 yards per kickoff return, fifth-best in the nation. Against eight of the Cardinal's 12 opponents this season, Owusu has returned a kickoff at least 40 yards.
