Nakazawa, Perk Earn NSCAA All-America Honors

UCLA seniors Kyle Nakazawa and Brian Perk were honored as NSCAA/Performance Suburu All-Americans in 2009. Nakazawa was named to the first team, while Perk was selected to the second team. They are the 40th and 41st Bruins ever to receive NSCAA All-America honors.

Nakazawa (Palos Verdes Estates, CA) finished the season leading the Pac-10 in points (31), and ranked second in goals scored (12) and points per game (1.55). He provided the bulk of the scoring for UCLA this season, recording a goal or assist (12 goals, 7 assists total) on 61% of the Bruin goals. A semifinalist for the M.A.C. Hermann Trophy, Nakazawa was also a first-team All-Pac-10 and honorable mention Pac-10 All-Academic honoree.

Perk (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA) led the Pac-10 in goals against average (0.87) and recorded four shutouts and 53 saves, including a career-high 10 saves in the win at Maryland. He was also named to the first-team All-Pac-10 squad and to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Season first team. Perk is also a nominee for the U.S. Soccer Young Athlete of the Year. He missed five games for the Bruins this season while starting in goal for the U.S. Under-20 National Team at the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
